Matt Beck started his musical training on piano at the age of 2 and a half and at the age of 8, he was one of the youngest ever to be accepted into the Julliard School of Music. At 16 he picked up guitar. Being left-handed, he picked up a right-handed guitar and flipped it over to play lefty. He didn't realize until much later that most people restring the guitar. He continued his studies on guitar and developed his unorthodox playing style coming up with his own voicings and phrasing. After high school he attended The Manhattan School of music earning a Bachelors of Music degree in Jazz Guitar. After school he started to tour. First with Lisa Loeb and Nine stories, sharing guitar duties with Dweezil Zappa, and then with Matchbox 20 as a multi-instrumentalist. For more info and correspondence, visit www.mattbeck.com.
